Businesses typically carry their items by air or by sea to deliver goods overseas. Shipment by sailboat is substantially less expensive than delivering by aircraft, which is typically the fastest route. Sea transportation offers a broad range of forms that can transfer merchandise in a secure manner.
In this blog, we will introduce you to the various types of cargo transportation by sea, and our recommendation during transportation to prevent damage to delivered merchandise.

Marine Transportation Methods

Discover the five typical sea transportation methods for your shipment.

1. Ships that roll on and off
The roll-on/roll-off ship, sometimes known is the first primary kind of marine shipping for commercial cargo. Driving the truck to the appropriate location on the vessel is all that is required to load the cargo, which primarily transports autos. Users merely drive the car off the vessel after the vessel has arrived at the drop-off point. If people need to move automobiles across the ocean, this type of ship is incredibly effective and simple to utilize.

2. Container ships
Cargo ships come in a variety of dimensions and are capable of effectively and safely transporting any type of merchandise. In order to transport basic items securely to the arrival location, some cargo ships even feature specific refrigerator rooms. If users need to send fragile products, think about finding out about the loading and unloading procedures used by cargo ships in order to guarantee the safety of the cargo.

3. Bulk Transporters
On bulk cargo, there are fewer cargo containers than on cargo vessels. Coal, wood chips, grains, and metal ore are among the goods transported by bulk carriers. Companies generally drop these things directly into the holding rather than loading things into containers beforehand.

4. Barges
To increase the amount of cargo capacity, companies regularly pull barges alongside ships. Users can select the barge capacity that is ideal for the particular sort of cargo since these barges are available in a variety of dimensions. Barges are frequently used by cargo ships, therefore if you notice an additional boat following a cargo ship, it's probably a barge.

5. Tankers
An oil tanker ship will likely be used if you need to transport liquids or gases. These ships are frequently used by companies in the oil sector to transfer liquids in a safe and secure manner. These vessels typically come in a variety of sizes, and some of the bigger tankers are about a quarter mile long! Use of a secure tanker is required for the international transportation of liquids and gases.

Daiwa Lance using Containers for Shipping

There are various reasons Daiwa Lance chooses cargo for shipping our products to customers.

Eco-friendly Method of Transportation which have wide connection, so we can deliver easily worldwide. Ocean freight shipping has a low carbon footprint since ships use less fuel than airplanes do. Several of the biggest freight forwarding firms in India prefer them over other modes of transportation since they are environmentally benign.

The container is can afford our requirement of size specifications. Our product is fits with size and weight for container loading. The main size of the container is 20" in length 5.5meter -- this is our lance pipe standard length, and so it is suitable for packing our products. In some cases, we also can use a 40" container if customers require longer lance pipes, such as 9 - 10 meters.

Common Issues During Delivery

There are many issues that cause problems during marine transportation. Water is the most frequent cause of cargo breakage. The following list includes some of the causes of destruction:

- Condensation brought by high moisture levels or temperature variations while in transit.

- Water leakages as a result of holes or cracks in a unit load.

- Improper loading and unloading techniques or sealing.

Daiwa Lance's Recommendation for Marine Transportation

During shipping, there are cases of dropping the bundle to the ground and it causes damage to those oxygen lance pipes. Improper stowage or mishandling could occur when:
  • The cargo is delivered to the CFS yard where terminal operators take care of vanning.
  • The cargo is loaded or unloaded at the transit port.
  • The cargo was de-vanned at the destination by port workers.

To prevent shipping damages in mentioned cases above, heavy-duty packing solutions become indispensable.  The loading and unloading from one container to another container is very dangerous and can damage the products a lot. If an oxygen lance pipe is required to have a thread or socket portion, the protection is even more important because customers will use the lance pipe to connect two pieces together to ensure sufficient distance from hot melted iron. In this case, fully metal-covered packing will be highly recommended.

We suggest our customers should use a forklift tool: to balance the bundle while loading the oxygen lance pipe into the container, we design and use this tool for easy operating safety.
