HS code for steel pipe is classified differently by the nature of steel pipe is welded or seamless, external diameter is small or big, chemical composition with alloy or not, surface with special coating or not. Some countries have a restriction on the import of normal steel pipe by imposing special high import duty. HS code determines the import duty rate for a product, import tax can be higher than it should be if the importer applies the wrong HS code.

We'd like to introduce and explain the HS classification for CA Lance pipe and Thermic lance that customers can use when they import our lance pipe so that customers could know comprehensively which factors to consider before making a decision to purchase after reading this blog.

Harmonised System (HS) Classification

The Harmonised System (HS) Classification, also called the HS Nomenclature, is the World Customs Organization’s Harmonized Commodity Description and Coding System. It is an international customs classification system that allocates a unique 6-digit HS code to each group of products. The system was initially adopted by the Customs Cooperation Council in 1983.

The structure of HS code includes different parts divided from large to small as part. In the section there will be Chapters, Heading, Sub-Heading, Regional Tariff, and National Tariff.

HS code is one of the codes that help us distinguish different types of goods. The classification is applied worldwide according to the system that the world customs organization offers. This system of classifying goods will help taxable units. Along with that, it serves the statistical work of trade related to import and export of goods. The use of this Code also helps to classify the royals in the best way. Countries will have the same code, terminology and customs. From there, between different countries, when interacting, they can understand each other and make effective trade negotiations.

HS Code Benefits for Tax and Tariff

The most crucial action for shippers to do before entering the import and export markets is to assign an HS Code. The significance of the HS code could be overlooked by importers and exporters. Most frequently, providers just accept purchase orders from importers and send their products without having knowledge of an item's HS code.

The legal obligations of both the importer and the exporter include providing the appropriate HS code. No matter the variety of goods being imported or exported, both parties must ensure that they have included the essential categorization resources and that they take the time to get them correct.

  • Impact on Duty Rates: Duty rates and HS codes have a direct relationship. Giving an inaccurate or no HS code might be quite harmful from a business perspective. An essential part of the shipping procedure is comprehending duty charges. Antidumping and countervailing duties are closely related to HS codes in addition to the ordinary duty rates. Shippers also run the danger of legal action. Instantaneous HS code assignment is a dangerous endeavor that lowers accuracy. Incorrect HS codes might result in if the importer incurring excessive tax or receiving punishment for the error.

  • On Time Shipping: When customs brokers are unable to accurately categorize a shipment, identify the product and its associated HS codes before the vessel arrives, and free time at the port expires, shippers run the risk of delays and storage fees. Shippers also run the danger of legal action. Instantaneous HS code assignment is a dangerous endeavor that lowers accuracy. Incorrect HS codes might result in the importer incurring excessive tax or receiving punishment for the error.

Daiwa Lance HS Codes for Lance Pipe

Daiwa CA Lance has a thin refractory on the interior surface that shields the steel from direct contact with the oxygen stream. On the exterior surface, it has a thick refractory coating that effectively protects the steel from heat attack. Daiwa Lance has a homogeneous calorized layer both inside and out. Aluminum diffuses into mild steel when heated up to 1,000°C and forms a heat-resistant aluminum-iron alloy (calorized layer ) over the surface of mild steel.

We are applying HS code: 7306.30 with the description of a circular cross-section, with iron or non-alloy steel. From chapter code 7306.30 there are subchapter codes to suit the inside and outside diameters.

For Calorized Lance pipe, we will apply two HS CODE codes as follows:
+ 7306.3091: With an inner diameter of 12.5mm or more, an outside diameter of less than 140mm, and a carbon content of less than 0.45% by weight
+ 7306.3092: With an inner diameter of less than 12.5mm.

Another possible HS Code that we can use is 7306.90.

Calorized Lance Pipe

Daiwa Thermic Lance is a cutting tool made of steel pipe filled with steel wires or a combination of steel wires and an inner pipe. When burning, it generates a powerful flame up to 4,000°C without noise and vibration to break up materials quickly. Daiwa Thermic Lance is not a hollow normal pipe because inside the Thermic Lance is a mixture of steel wires or a combination of a mixture of steel wire and a small inner pipe. Therefore, HS CODE: 7326.9099 is the most suitable one to apply for Thermic Lance.

Conclusion

The HS code for steel pipe is divided into multiple categories depending on the kind of steel pipe—welded or seamless, small or large in terms of external diameter, chemically alloyed or not, and coated or uncoated on the surface. Some nations apply a high import charge as a limitation on the importation of standard steel pipes. A product's HS code determines the import duty rate; if the importer uses the incorrect HS code, the import tax may be more than it should be.
