Thermocouple Protection Tube

Thermocouple protection tube is a heat-resistant tube designed to shield thermocouples from adverse conditions such as high temperatures, chemical corrosion, and mechanical impacts.

Thermocouple protection tubes are typically made from materials like silicon nitride, alumina, or stainless steel, each offering unique properties that make them suitable for different applications.

  • Silicon Nitride Tubes: Known for their high strength and resistance to thermal shock, silicon nitride tubes are ideal for applications where rapid temperature changes occur.
  • Alumina Tubes: These tubes offer excellent chemical resistance and are often used in environments where corrosive substances are present.
  • Stainless Steel Tubes: Providing mechanical strength and resistance to oxidation, stainless steel tubes are suitable for applications where durability is crucial.

The choice of material for the thermocouple protection tube depends on the specific conditions of the application. For instance, in aluminum smelting furnaces, where temperatures are extremely high and there is a risk of chemical corrosion, thermocouple protection tubes made from refractory materials like alumina are commonly used.
