China
Due to limited demand, domestic HRC prices in China decreased by Yuan 30/t ($4/t) to Yuan 4,200/t ($612/t) on Apr 01st. Export HRC prices also decreased by $10/t to $685/t FOB China port, compared to a week earlier. Meanwhile, domestic billet prices at Yuan 3,900/t ($568/t), rose up to Yuan 40/t ($6/t).
Japan
Import HRC price in Vietnam was at $665/t CFR on Mar 27th, dropping by $25/t due to limited buying interest in import HRC. Most buyers in Vietnam look for an alternative domestic supply with low demand. The supply is expected to improve because a major steelmaker announced to restart of one more blast furnace in April.
Europe
Domestic HRC prices in Germany were at EUR 860/t on Mar 30th, slightly increased by EUR 10/t from the previous week, while HRC prices in Italy rosed by EUR 20/t to EUR 850/t at the same time. Demand from the automotive industry has increased but buyers still keep stock at a low level.
America
The price of US domestic HRC was at $1,293/MT ($1,175 per short ton) on Mar 29th, slightly decreased by $8/MT compared with one week earlier. The market kept quiet this week, buyers have the mentality of waiting to see how the price will change, but the demand for steel plates is strong.
Due to the effect of the automotive industry, the Brazilian domestic ferrous scrap market has been stopped. They changed activity to export, with the price at Real 1,250/t ($246/t) FOT. The market is still waiting for Government's policy for the construction industry to help the steel market as well as the demand for scrap.
Viet Nam
